I have to make a sincere confidence about Livingstone. There is something extraordinary great about the place but in the mean time something unfortunately sad. Living here, you'll have the chance to meet incredible people coming around for one week, two weeks, 3 weeks, several months as a volunteer, a collegue or a traveller. Livingstone has the power to build very strong friendships in a "snap" time. Something very special from the place. Trust me, i have travelled all over the world, alone, with my family or with some good mates of mine, but i have never been in a place where you have this confidence that the people you'll meet along the way, will become 100% some of your best friends in life!

My guess is that you can enjoy so many "unique" things, experiences and activities here in Livingstone with the people you meet that you actually end up sharing the same little treasure together ; that kind of little empty sugar box you might have burried yourself when you were a 7-years-old kid with your "brothers in blood" by your favorite tree, each of you guys, giving up your favorite item inside! it is the same kind of feeling i guess! Because you are sharing something special and unique from that day! And that gets you even closer to the people you shared the experience with!

The sad side of it is just that you know from the start they'll leave soon and that you'ld probably never see them again because they all belong to another part of the world! but hell yeaah! the memories will remain forever!

I talked not that long ago in a blog about the spirit of the Zambezi river, Nyami Nyami. There is definitely something mystical about the river and the gorge, a real power that makes people remain bound by the place.

Some of the activities at the gorge will definitely be unforgettable.

Ask Abseil Zambia (http://www.thezambeziswing.com)! They will be very happy to make it happen for you. You'll go to Rapid 8 right in front of Rapid 7 and you'll enjoy 3 different kind of activities: The flying fox, The Gorge Swing and The Abseiling. They have their office on Mosi-oa-Tunya Road anyway and they'll organize the pick-up to their site in the gorge for you. No problem!

I had the chance to experience those activities and the view on the gorge is breath-taking.

First, as a warm-up, you'll start with THE FLYING FOX. Kind of a zip-line but you're attached on the back...so you run as fast as you can on the platform and jump from the ridge...you'll fly into the gorge over the mighty Zambezi and end up almost on the other side...you'll have an incredible view on the rapids from there! it is amazing!

You can do that twice! the opportunity to run even faster to try to finally reach the other side.

Second, you have a little walk to finally end up at THE GORGE SWING site. Scary! Here, some friendly people will desperately try to make you comfortable with the idea to fall from a plateforme at a height of 94 meters, attached to a 53-meters-long rope. You have 2 ways of falling he told me: "Forward" or "Backward". I know the feeling of a back exit from a plane at 4000 meters altitude. So, my idea was to stick to the plan of a nice view of the gorge. The equipement is quality and you feel safe...till the moment you have to put your toes right on the edge of the platform..."After 1, he said...3, 2, 1..."..."waaaaaahhh" i said. your way up is nice too...you'll have a 10 minutes hike through the gorge...lovely!

"You are a screamer!", the team told me...well...i guess i enjoyed the adrenaline! ;-)

Finally, in the full day package you have the opportunity to do also THE ABSEILING.

We're not talking about falling anymore...we're talking about seeing the 94-meters-high ridge as your best friend! Look at that one:

This is not even a joke. He is facing the the ground! hé hé what a feeling! This is great! very challenging! that will make your day!

The gorge gets you. From the gorge swing plateform you have a view on Rapid 7 where we are used to have a braii! Usually a "bye bye braii"! the gorge has become such an important thing to all of us, that, i guess, we just want to enjoy for the last time, this incredible view with the people you've met in here in Livingstone that you'll remember all your all life!

Isn't it one of the best power in the world!? if you don't beleive me, come and check out by yourself! ;-)
